Start with the mover’s inventory
Compare the mover’s list with every room, garage bay, shed, and storage area. Anything not assigned to the move needs a clear destination.
Flag heavy and awkward items
List large furniture, exercise equipment, damaged shelving, and items with glass or detachable parts. Dimensions, stairs, and access affect the plan more than a room count alone.
Keep a no-removal zone
Use one closed room, clearly marked area, or locked vehicle for passports, leases, closing papers, medication, chargers, tools, and overnight bags.
Schedule around the moving crew
A cleanout before the movers arrive gives both crews more space. If timing overlaps, agree on separate work zones and loading paths first.
Quick checklist
- Mover inventory compared
- Garage and storage checked
- Large items listed
- No-removal zone established
- Work times do not conflict
Before you schedule
Use the checklist to describe the job, then confirm accepted material, access, price, timing, and the exact areas included. A submitted description or phone conversation is not a confirmed appointment until the operator accepts it.
